David H Bailey (who as written some of The Mormon Organon’s most popular posts) has just developed an amazing website devoted to faith/science issues called Science Meets Religion! I invite everyone to check it out. It is well worth some in-depth exploration. Especially read his opening post “What I have Learned.” Great work David!

Sorry to say, but Mr. Bailey is too late. A website dealing with Mormon theology and science has already been created at http://www.mormonsandscience.com.
It is an exciting site that explores the crossroads of science and religion without passing off heretical theistic evolution viewpoints on members of the church, especially vulnerable young folks who are still forming opinions on these matters.

The difference being David Bailey actually knows something about science and religion.
The public advocates for Darwinism approach their subject with a messianic zeal that contradicts their claim to be objective, dispassionate, scientists. They reveal or omit evidence depending upon whether they think it will help them to convince the public. They rely heavily on ridicule, and on appeals to their own authority, to defend their position.
Being a once happy mormon scientist who searched for any way around having to accept evolution. Trying to beleive anything that could unify mormon theology to the evidence availiable. I have to say it is clear to most that by far the largest messianic zeal is found in the religous camp. The main issue with religion is it doesn’t change its views to line up with empiriacal evidence. a good scientist should always be willing to bend in the dirrection of new evidence or thought if it is more reasonable.
You can just about believe in evolution and be a mormon if you ignor the prophets non cononised teachings.
The flood and other early biblical stories also have to become very much watered down.

Theistic evolutionists are content to let the secularists define scientific knowledge so long as theology is allowed to put its own spin on whatever science decrees to be true. They give up the claim that God’s existence makes any scientific difference and accept the scientific theories proposed by materialists and atheists, asking only to propose a theological meaning behind it all–not detectable by scientific means, admittedly, but known by faith.
Theistic creation story:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:1-4
Secular creation story:
In the beginning were the particles and the impersonal laws of physics. And the particles somehow became complex living stuff; and the stuff imagined God; but then discovered evolution.

ATHEISM implies EVOLUTION (a gradualist, materialist form of evolution, the prime example of which is Darwinian evolution). Indeed, the atheist has no other options in explaining the diversity and complexity of life. This implication explains why ID is so vehemently opposed by atheists. By challenging evolution, ID challenges atheism.
Evolution is the mainstay of an atheistic worldview — is it a coincidence that the day-job of the world’s most prominent atheist (Richard Dawkins) is evolutionary biology? ID, by challenging this mainstay, fundamentally undermines an atheistic worldview. It’s therefore ironic that theistic evolutionists fall all over themselves to support evolution, even arguing that it is more compatible with Christian theism than ID.
